Andrea M. Fuquay, 1976-2011

The following was written and read by Suzie Pace, friend of the family, at Andrea’s Funeral, June 17, 2011

I think if there was ever anyone who personified the saying—LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE—it was Andrea. She truly celebrated life every day through her love for her husband, children, family and friends. As a mother, Andrea put her cheerleading and teaching talents to use and was always involved in all of Logan, Braxton, Keely & Kimber’s activities at home and school.

Whether it was in the classroom, at the ball field, down at the river camp, at the beach or at their home, you could always count on Andrea to provide the fun—not to mention, all the necessary bedazzled accessories and bling! She was never one to take herself too seriously. All you have to do is look at her email signature with her dancing, green alien getting his party on to know that! Andrea was always ready to party and I can only imagine the one she’s having right now, free of cancer with her Creator. I always admired her sense of style including her ability to always have her toenail polish perfectly coordinated with her flip flops and to be able to carry a cell phone in an outfit with no pockets!

As a witness to us all, she didn’t allow cancer to dull her enthusiasm for life. Through it all, you never heard her gripe or complain. She never hosted any pity parties on her own behalf. Her battle with cancer wasn’t fueled by anger or fear but by a God-given inner strength and peace accompanied by her ever-present smile and upbeat outlook on life.

She cherished each and every moment she had with the loves of her life—Danny, Logan, Braxton, Keely, Kimber, her family and closest friends. You were her world. She loved being your wife, your mother, your sister, your daughter and your friend. As Danny’s soul mate and partner, Andrea showed us through her actions, not just her words, what a truly loving marriage looks like when it’s built on kindness, respect and unselfish love.

And that’s how she lived—unselfishly, with great enthusiasm and with a tremendous love for each of you. Logan, Braxton, Keely & Kimber—the greatest gift your mom ever gave you was each other. You have each other, your family and your faith in God to rely on and to turn to in the days ahead. You will forever be blessed by your mom’s love for you and all that she shared with you and taught you. Keep your wonderful memories of her alive by loving each other the same way that she loved you. I know she would want all of us to celebrate her life by filling ours full of laughter, kindness and love. So I challenge each of you, to LIVE, LAUGH and LOVE just as Andrea did.
